asdesign was started in 2017 by Alister Shapley, a trained part II architect from Stoke-on-Trent. After completing his degree, Alister gained 7+ years of experience through working on high-end bid production, design report templates, marketing material redesigns and photograph retouching for the construction and architectural sector, before setting off on a new journey with asdesign. Alister’s passion for print and typography, which he cultivated during his architectural training at Edinburgh College of Art, is the driving force behind the work produced by asdesign. His unique perspective on graphic design stems from the knowledge of brief writing and design process he gained in architecture school.

asdesign has worked with a wide range of clients, from textile manufacturers and PR consultancies to large multinational corporations. Some of our clients include: Atelier Ten, Action Against Hunger, Academy of Urbanists Young Urbanists and KrasenLach.

Sustainability is at the heart of our business. We use environmental printers and printing techniques along with recycled or FSC certified paper stocks. We think design should be personal, environmental and above all, client-focused.

Exploring our own ideas is key to how asdesign expands its concepts and design ethos. These ideas form our self-initiated work which we then showcase at fairs and exhibitions across the UK.

We’re a growing studio with a constant enthusiasm for further developing and learning new processes, both digital and print. We’re proud to be able to deliver a diverse and expanding range of design services, from typical print brochures to a variety of niche services specialised for the architectural sector for example bespoke bid packaging and document design.
